Pop/Rock - Led by former Cardigan vocalist Nina Persson, Swedish trio A Camp has been "taken out of storage" for a second round of impressive adult pop via Colonia, the long-awaited followup to their fine 2001 self-titled debut album. New project possesses a slightly darker, self-described "urban back alley" feel to it lyrically with newest member (and Nina hubby) Nathan Larson adding his film-scoring expertise to the disc's more widescreen approach and distinctly American references.

The trio may now claim New York has home but Colonia is still guided by what Persson describes as 'love, alienation and Swedish melancholy'. Distinguishing the atmospheric songs, not unexpectedly, is Persson's wonderfully fragile and warmly vibratoed voice, bringing a quality that's remarkably understated and confident simultaneously, not unlike, as one critic observed, a more subdued Chrissie Hynde.
