Laura Izibor - Let The Truth Be Told
R+B/Pop - Critics have declared 20-year-old Dubliner Laura Izibor "the soul of Ireland" with a style that references the classic R+B songwriting of Roberta Flack and the pop pen of her idol Carole King as well as more contemporary "nu-soul" artists such as Jill Scott or Lauryn Hill. An award winning composer who was winning national song competitions at 15, Izibor has matured into a forceful and engaging performer who can mesh gospel choruses and bouncy pop/soul with ease.
From her bio: Born to a working class family in Dublin, Ireland, Izibor admits she didn’t grow up in a musical household. "My mother raised five kids on her own, so there wasn’t much time to buy records – it wasn’t that kind of home. I found myself fancying music at about 13.” Once the love for musicians like Stevie Wonder, Candi Stanton, and Roberta Flack took hold, she was smitten for good. "One door opened to the next – first I discovered Marvin Gaye, and then Otis Redding, and I just fell in love with soul music."
Debut album Let The Truth Be Told promises to be an album that rekindles some real R+B on the pop charts, a rarity nowadays. On tour now with India.Arie. "From My Heart to Yours" was featured on "Greys Anatomy" while "Shine" found its way on the "Nanny Diaries" soundtrack.
