De Rosa - Prevention
Pop/Rock - Scottish quintet De Rosa return with their second album of literate, bristling folk melodies set to a more shifting, dynamic rock foundation, or in the words of front man Martin Henry, "heavier and prettier at the same time." Named one of MOJO's Albums of 2006, De Rosa's debut "Mend" met with solid reviews, a burgeoning fan base and (naturally) the challenge from the band to expand their sound while staying true to their musical vision. The result is a more elaborate production, with newly found electronics and keyboards adding an additional layer of depth and texture. But Henry's brogue-inflected vocals still captivate and the jangling guitars and gently propulsive rhythm section retain their subtle kick on songs that creep into the consciousness.
