Living Things - Habeas Corpus
Living Things' last outing, 2005's Ahead Of The Lions, was a muzzle blast of anxious, angry garage rock that earned comparisons to Nirvana and The Sex Pistols and universal acclaim. Fricke fawned over it; Christgau attempted to psychoanalyze lead singer Lillian Berlin's "tortured psyche." Habeas Corpus retains Lions' bite - snarling riffs, scathing anti-establishment lyrics - but rounds out some of the jagged edges with a more complex, classic rock sound: The Stooges meet The Stones.
