Top 10 NES Games on Virtual Console
The NES can be credited as the system that saved gaming, becoming a household staple after the industry was thought to have been killed off by the waning Atari 2600. It represented a golden age of gaming, and spawned some franchises that can still be found today. And just because the system may not be easy to get a hold of, it doesn’t mean that players can’t get their hands of some of the highlights from the system’s past, courtesy of the Wii’s Virtual Console. Here’s a look at some of my favorites:

 

Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos
Ryu’s second quest on the NES was a fan favorite, offering great gameplay and challenging levels.
River City Ransom
River City Ransom was a quirky and unique brawler, and one that not only exudes a lot of charm, but also features some fun and deep gameplay.
Star Tropics
A cult classic, StarTropics had unique adventure-style gameplay in a tropical setting, and was one of the unsung hits of the NES.
