Assembly Of Dust - Some Assembly Required
Rock/Pop/Americana - Led by singer/songwriter and frontman Reid Genauer, Assembly Of Dust straddles Americana-styled melodies and a more stretched out live instrumental jamband dexterity for a mix that should appeal to fans of both genres. New album Some Assembly Required, the band's second studio outing, has Genaur looking beyond the self-described “1920’s Dust Bowl kind of blue-collar Americana” of '07's Recollection for a more varied sound...and some special guests to help bring his musical vision to fruition.
“I had to think about who would make sense," says Genauer, who I aspired to play with, and who had similar musical aesthetics.” The resulting efforts managed to corral the likes of Richie Havens, Phish’s Mike Gordon, Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglas, Martin Sexton, Theresa Andersson and Grace Potter with every track of Required featuring at least one of the invitees. Reflects Genauer: “It ended up being a lot of time and energy and dealing with managers and explaining my vision and in a few cases even who I was. But it was worth it.” Recalling the rough edged rural rock of bands like Wilco along with the shuffling, folk/pop shamble of Jack Johnson, Genaur and band -- and guests -- turn his "bit of a turn" into a defining moment of accomplished playing.
