Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest
Pop/Folk - Veckatimest is the highly anticipated followup to Grizzly Bear's dreamy folk masterpiece Yellow House, which Pitchfork called "cozy, nuanced, and lovingly produced, as delicate as a fistful of dried flowers," and chose as one of the top 10 albums of 2006. Just as Yellow House marked a progression from the band's debut Horn Of Plenty, Veckatimest takes the next logical step, tightening the group's songcraft and sound without comprimising their tremendous sense of space and freedom. As an early review in The FADER aptly summarized, "Veckatimest is what happens when an inclination to weirdness evaporates under years of practice and skill."
Veckatimest is a treasure trove of lush, nocturnal pop songs that glow with the warmth of campfire embers. Leaked way back in February, the album has already received numerous favorable reviews including early 4-star assessments from SPIN and Q. Tastemakers Dazed & Confused call it "An album so good it could potentially end all human conflict." What does the band think about it? "I don't feel like I have to prove that it's as good as Yellow House," says founder/frontman Ed Droste. "I think it's better." We concur. Veckatimest arrives May 26th on Warp Records. Recommended.
