One of the top tier films in this month's 4th annual After Dark Horrorfest is Anthony DiBlasi's Dread, a the latest adaptation of a Clive Barker short story. The film is a psychological thriller centering on three college students who study other people’s fears. As the study progresses, one of the students begins to seek salvation from his obsession by exploiting the terrors of his fellow participants. While we've already seen a ton of footage in the promo from last year, below you can now see After Dark's official trailer. More of this year’s titles include: Lake Mungo, The Reeds, The Graves, Zombies of Mass Destruction, The Final, Hidden and the newly added Kill Theory

Having seen the movie, they gave away too much in this trailer. Why not just post the entire movie?

It seems like they took the three main characters in the book, and stretched their characteristics over about 6 people... Looks decent though... I hope for the best.

This does look pretty decent.

Looks pretty sweet. I don't mind the changes from the short story, being as they look appropriate and I hate it in movies like 1408 where you can tell that they didn't have enough material to stretch in to a full length movie, but they did anyway, without trying to just expand things to fit the medium. Hope this pulls it off.

This looks great. If you've read the short story you know how this is going to pan out. Seems like all of the storys main set pieces are there.

YESSSSSS now that's the trailer I have been waiting for.

Does it really look like the book to you? None of this except the meat and the fear study reminds me of the short story... although I did read it a while back. I remember the "nothingness" and that apartment building being the heart of the scare... this looks like Saw got mixed in.... eh

I think Saw kinda' stold some of Dread's ideas from the original book... all the "experiments" were pretty damn similar to something Jigsaw might cook up... (and since someone brought up 1408, I really try to like the movie, and it does have it's moments, no doubt, but it's nothing compared to the story, which in my opinion is one of King's best works to date. The coolest thing in the story was that the hotel room was haunted, yet, there were no stereotypical ghosts. Then what's the first thing the movie throws in it? That's right... ghosts. Ghosts. Cusack was still perfect casting though, and some of the over the top scenes actually come off pretty cool in their own right, just as long as you keep it seperated from the source material, which had a lot more subtle horrors)

@JohnMarrone - how many OTHER things was there? those alone were all but 10 pages of the book. I havent watched the above trailer, but the "dark scene" is the only scene I havent seen in the trailers.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH yeah they showed about the entire movie in that one..but being that i read it..its ok to me..i wasnt expected to NOT know what happens.. cant wait. I want to see ALL of the clive barker shorts made to movies now. Midnight Meat Train was amazing.. Book of Blood..well..was worth watching, yet they didnt get the visuals of the book down very well..
