Celebration

Each week we publish a gallery of readers' pictures on a set theme. We begin the first gallery of 2010, on the theme of celebration, with a photograph by Linda Bamber of her dog Cassie on New Year's Day.

Monika Tomczuk: "Thankful for a quiet evening with my father, we rang in the new year at home in front of the Christmas tree. He was diagnosed with cancer before Christmas so we are grateful to have this New Year's Eve to celebrate."
Stuart Taylor: "The Selangor St Andrew's Society held their annual celebration at the Royal Lake Club, Kuala Lumpur. Attendance was approximately 150 and the evening comprised pre-dinner cocktails, toasts to the Agong and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth."
Chayali Fehl: "A memorable parade and celebration I came across in the quaint town of Cuzco, Peru, when I was there in the summer."
Philip Perman: "The annual Lewes bonfire night celebrations in East Sussex were as spectacular as ever!"
Richard Brown: "My picture shows two family members reuniting at their annual Easter party in south Wales. Although wonderfully celebratory I love the ambiguity of just seeing one side of the hug (think they'd rather call it a 'cwtch'!)."
Anna Lambert: "This is a three-layer banoffee marshmallow cake I found the recipe for in Good Food magazine. I made it to celebrate a visit to a friend I hadn't seen in months. Myself and five other girls ate half for dessert during our evening meal."
