How You Can Help

If you enjoy VintageSewing.info, find it a valuable resource, or even just like to look at the pictures, there are many ways you can support this site:

Give Feedback

Let us know what you think about the site. What do you like? What would make the site easier for you to use? Is there a subject about which you would like to see more (e.g., pattern design, millinery, sewing textbooks, correspondence courses, etc.)? Is there an area of specialization we've completely overlooked? Is there a particular book you would like us to track down and add to the site?

Promote this Resource

Tell your friends. Tell your coworkers. Tell your co-conspirators. Add a link to us on your web page. When people in newsgroups and on bulletin boards ask for information that can be found on this site, refer them to VintageSewing.info.

Provide Source Material

Do you own a likely candidate for inclusion on our site? Contact us so we can make sure it's a viable candidate. If it is, you can either donate it outright, or lend it to us (we'll mail it back to you with delivery confirmation and insurance), or scan it in .tiff format (minimum 300 dpi; 600 dpi for photographs) and send us the file.

Unless you wish to remain anonymous, when the candidate you have donated (or loaned to us) is published on the site, we will credit your generosity on the book's summary page, or we can mention another person in whose honor (or in memorium of) the book was donated.

Donate Money

If you are reading this in the state of Illinois, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Utah, or the District of Columbia, (and, temporarily, Arizona, Florida, and Kentucky), please wait until you are in a different state (or country) to continue reading. Due to the fees and/or reporting requirements for the aforementioned states, we are not registered to solicit donations in those states.

Vintage Sewing Reference Library, Inc., is a nonprofit public benefit corporation. We have applied for our "advance determination letter of tax-exempt status" with the IRS. This means your contribution will be tax deductible. Over the next five years, we will need to obtain at least one-third of our operating budget from a "broad base of public support." Every donation helps us reach this goal.

Take a moment to write us a check. Send us a money order. Stuff some cash into an envelope (although the U.S. Post Office advises against this). Donations of $20 or more will receive a letter of acknowledgement and, when available, a copy of our annual report. Send to: Vintage Sewing Reference Library, Inc., 432 43rd Street, Oakland, CA 94609-2138, USA.

We can also accept credit card or checking account donations through PayPal. You don't even need a PayPal account to make a credit card payment through PayPal.

As with donations of source material, unless you wish to remain anonymous, you will be credited in our annual report. If you prefer, we can mention another person in whose honor (or in memorium of) the donation was made.

If you make a donation of $20 or more, please include your name and mailing address in the "shipping information" so we can send you a letter acknowledging your donation (for your income tax purposes) and to express our thanks. In November, you will also receive a printed copy of our annual report.
