Dallas appeal likely over D2 rulings

DALLAS TWP. – Attorney Jack Dean, special counsel to the Dallas School Board, said Monday all or some of the seven rulings the District 2 athletic committee is seeking against the varsity football team might be appealed to the PIAA in Mechanicsburg.

“I feel we would have some valid basis to appeal,” Dean said, “such as some notice requirements (District 2) didn’t comply with. When there are some potential criminal issues, which there clearly were in this case, the PIAA is supposed to hold these hearings in a closed manner …. That was the significant issue that hamstrung Dallas’ ability to put a case on.
