A section of Evans Street in Luzerne and Pringle is closed for a bridge replacement project. Work began Monday and is expected to be completed by November, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. PennDOT said motorists can follow the detour route from Union Street onto Courtdale Avenue and onto Courtright Street to reconnect to Evans Street. Concrete barriers have been put in place on the Evans Street exit and entrance to the Luzerne Shopping Center. Mary Pat Kupetz, Pringle secretary, said Wednesday the borough did not close the roadway. ‘We had nothing to do with that,’ Kupetz said.
