Primary responsibilities include the development and design of our web show publishing and distribution systems, as well as assisting in the design & build of new community-facing web applications. Ideal candidates will be well-versed in creating and growing web platforms and share an interest in the exciting world of Internet video.

Skills:

Expert knowledge of XHTML, CSS, and Javascript (we use jQuery)

Substantial experience with PHP and MySQL development

Graphic design talent & system administration experience are big pluses

Merchandise Design Intern

Know Your Meme is seeking a designer/merchandise intern for the summer of 2009. The ideal candidate will be interested in designing, assisting, and selling t-shirts & other products through our online store. Candidates will learn about production and post-production processes required for their assistance with in-house product design, marketing, and order fulfillment. Candidates must have a background in graphic or fashion design, have strong conceptual skills, and have the ability to research and execute their design ideas.

Specific Skills

Proficiency of print production with Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator is necessary.

Publication design, marketing, and social media skills a plus.

Great taste in music, video, and art a must!

This is a full-time internship at our SoHo (NYC) office. A minimum of a two month commitment during the summer months of May - August will be required and may be used for academic credit. Research Intern

Know Your Meme is seeking a summer intern to assist in gathering and compiling text, images, videos and other assets associated with our growing database of internet memes. Ideal candidate has an interests in internet phenomena and stays abreast of contemporary internet culture, including analytics, trends and movements. Candidates should have strong organizational skills, experience performing research online and must be comfortable with reaching out and communicating with content creators.

Experience with twitter, flickr, facebook, youtube, and other social networks is a major plus.

Writing Intern

Know Your Meme is seeking a summer writing intern to create new entries to add to our extensive meme database. This includes researching topical memes, histories and associated media. The writing intern will also be responsible for editing and verifying entries made by site users.

Ideal candidates will have experience with research, popular internet community sites and a background in journalism or creative writing.
