PARKER GRIFFITH. Ever hear of him? Outside of Alabama and our nation’s capital, no one else has, either.
True story: Once many years ago, on our way to a backpacking excursion, my brother and I drove along some obscure Pennsylvania rural lanes utterly unable to get from where we seemed to be on the map to where we wanted to go.
If, as some have suggested, we just lived through an economic and financial calamity like no other since the Great Depression, 2009 also contained hints of what’s to come, both locally and for the nation. Here are a few observations from beyond the Beltway and Wall Street:
Provoking my wife to debate something is about as difficult as convincing a kid to eat cookies or ice cream. We have bickered about everything from the color of carpeting to the merits of her mom’s pumpkin pie.
WELL, YOUR HOLIDAY gifts have been opened (and some of them already returned or regifted). You got everyone who’s important in your life at least a card, right? But you forgot a gift for the one you rely upon the most each day: your vehicle.
