Here are some screenshots Rare has been putting out throughout the week that compare the lovably fuzzy original N64 version of Perfect Dark to the spit-shined and sharpened XBLA remake that's due early next year.
You may recognise a couple of the shots, but now you can see how they stack up next to the Vaseline-covered original, and have a good look at Joanna Dark's new-age makeover, all looking very nice indeed.
Earlier this week Rare confirmed the game will be out in winter "early 2010". So not long to wait.
An I right in saying that Jo Dark was made to be American in the second game while she was British in the first? If so, I wonder what nationality she will be.
I never played the original but did get my hands on a copy of the launch 360 game which was horribly crap. I'd like to see what all the fuss is about with the series though so this may be purchase.
I'm not an online nut either but still interested in the multiplayer here.

Good stuff.
The 360 game is a disgrace to the name, the original is a much better game and a certified classic, this will be one of the finest games to come to XBLA, if you don't believe me, Click Here

Being such a huge fan of the original (still my most favourite game ever to this day), I've said it before and I'll say it again: I really don't like how they've re-skinned some of the characters They've even changed the colour of the Falcon 2 from blue to silver/metallic

oddly enough i think the duncan botwood designed multiplayer in pdz is one of the best on the 360 - 32 player infection is one of my favourite game modes ever. the likes of cod4,halo 3 etc.. just feel empty compared to 32 player urban etc...
i also like the way you could play split screen with 4 friends and you would all only take up one slot in the lobby-paving the way for possible 128 player games. (the most i ever played was 68 player desert, that was sweet)
it was also designed in such a way that headshots were all important and while i agree that the single player was lacking (it got better on dark agent difficulty) i'm yet to have a better time in mp on 360 and once the facility and temple turned up as free dlc it was nigh on perfect(cough),only the complex, stack and archives could've made it better.
as for this remake version: odds on jo's a yank. ms will make sure of that.
is co op (or more importantly counter co op) playable online?
this might be a nice little warm up for goldeneye 2010 on the wii (if it's a remake and not a half bottomd cash in like ea's effort a few years back)

The weapons look better, but for the character models I agree, I don't like how they changed they look of them.
@ ste hicky, I was a late-comer to the 360 so didn't get to experience much online multiplayer action with PDZ, the only online game I had on it was a one on one deathmatch, playing with the bots was fun for a minute, but nowhere near as fun as the bots in the original.
Jo in this better not be an american, aren't they carrying over the same voice work from the N64 version, or are they re-doing the whole thing? that'll really p*ss me off if all the voices and dialogue are not the same.
I'm sure whatever new James Bond game is coming out its not going to be a remake of the classic Goldeneye we all know and love.

shame man,the mp on pdz saved the game for me. the same fella did both the n64 and 360 versions so it was always going to be quality. nearly as good as the original for me,still not goldeneye quality though.
as for the 'eye 2010: it hasn't been denied that it's a full remake by anyone yet.
also if you factor in the fact that staff from eurocom (who have a fair few ex free radical/rare staff btw) have been working on it as a wii exclusive and that nintendo owned the rights to the game (they had the bond license at the time and got then 2nd party rare to develop an fps, pretty much like retro with metroid) it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

The weapons look better in terms of being high-res, but I'm still dissapointed in the colour changes of the skins, like how they've added the weird 'spots' to the FarSight
Oh well, hopefully nothing else will be ruined, and at least the frame-rate and online multiplayer will be a plus. I doubt they'll keep the "bug" in the game that lets you run faster at an angle though
Never played the original but got Pdz a few years ago and loved it. The atmosphere was great and the game was fun to play and quite challenging on later levels. Not sure why there is so much hate towards it. I will probaly pick this up when it released. Shame they never released Goldeneye though.
