360 avatar Christmas Collection released

Dress your virtual self like Santa's little helper
With only a few weeks to go until the big day, Microsoft has released the Christmas Collection for your avatar where you can waste some perfectly good money on silly Chrismas clobber.

Why buy Borderlands' DLC when you can buy a Christmas jumper? There's no contest really.

But if you have got a few thousand points knocking around and your hard drive's full of po-, err DLC, then why not drop a few hunderd points on making your avatar look like a right ****? It is Christmas after all.

See the full collection here.

Surely no one buys this stuff do they?

If nobody was buying it they probably wouldn't bother making it. A fool and his money are soon parted, and there's probably quite a lot of fools out there.

You are indeed correct as can be shown by the number of people that use Twitter and Facebook Laughing

I'm failing to see what Facebook and Twitter have to do with paying money for stupid dress up items for your online doll thing?

Because they are equally pointless.

Facebook is only pointless if you have no friends

And a lot of people do buy this rubbish. Just play a round of 1 vs 100 to see how many idiots there are.

Facebook is actually only pointless if you have friends. I have no need to have invented ones online.

Whilst I agree, most of the avatar stuff is dump (especially the above, I mean seriously, WTF) I think the actually notion of customising your avatar is pretty cool.

For instance, I wouldn't go throwing ridiculous amounts of money at it, but when I saw the decks prop, being inclined to have a spin myself, I thought, 'yeah, nice' and bought 'em. Not everyone's cup of tea, but having the option isn't so bad, is it?

I remember when MS used to give Avatar clothing items away for free... Sad you would of thought they'd have at least done that with these to encourage people to get into the christmas spirit or something.

Well there are still a lot of avatar clothes for free, just steer clear of the avatar shop. I still have last years xmas premium theme as my current theme (i never buy themes). Perhaps MS will do another free theme this year.

Yep they do, one of my mates has spent a small fortune on Megatron helmets and pirate outfits. And don't get me started on the amount of preople on my friends list with MW2 Ghost outfits. I'd rather use my MS points on Arcade titles and DLC, you know actual gaming stuff, but each to their own i suppose.

Facebook isn't for online friends though, it's for keeping in contact with people you actually know. I think you're getting it muddled up with Myspace...

I know it may sound odd, but I generally keep in touch with my friends by, you know, talking to them....

I rather 'A fool and his money are soon partying'.

I cant stand this stuff. The thing that annoys me the most is the game related avatar items that should be rewards for playing the game, not DLC.

Indeed, I thought this was going to happen at some point but never has. Surely giving the themes, gamer pics and avatar items away for getting all the achievements would be easy enough.

I only have the free Halo Waypoint extra. I've no intention of wasting money on virtual tat. Anyway, topper, tails and monocle is far better.
