Darksiders pre-order goodies detailed

The lowdown on free stuff when you pre-order
Fans of Darksiders, THQ's apocalyptic action-adventure which sees you take on the role of War, erstwhile horseman of the apocalypse and battle the combined forces of Heaven and Hell is going to come with a stack of pre-order goodies, whether you're playing PlayStation or Xbox versions.

Here's the official word:

All pre-order copies of Darksiders from GAME will receive a code to unlock an exclusive in-game weapon called 'The Harvester'. This ornate scythe comes from the arsenal of Death himself and allows War to smite his foes from a distance with ease

Gamers who purchase their copy from PLAY.com will receive a unique unlock code for an exclusive War costume for their avatar on Xbox LIVE or PSN. This outfit will allow them to be the envy of all their friends as they take on the guise of a Horseman of the Apocalypse

Pre-ordering the game from Amazon will earn players a Ruin head mask for their Xbox LIVE avatar or PlayStation Home character. This mask can be equipped with any outfit and will definitely help your character stand out from the crowd

Copies of the game purchased from Gamestation will come with an exclusive Darksiders comic book expanding the back story of the game. Drawn by famous ex-Marvel artist and Vigil Games creative lead Joe Madureira, this is an absolute must have for comic collectors

Any pre-orders placed with HMV will receive an exclusive Your Last Centrefold calendar

Hm. I already knew about the Ruin downloadable material for Xbox 360. I think it looks daft to be blunt; I'd much prefer War's outfit where it concerns avatar appearances. The trump is the scythe in-game weapon though since it has a direct impact on the actual gameplay, IMO.

I think these pre order bonuses are getting outta control. What if your a super fan and want all the stuff I guess you gotta go on ebay.

I paid 20 quid more than I needed to because I pre ordered MW2 from Game.

Also the Amazon pre order bonus is rubbish.

Agreed.

P.S. What I'm about to type may get fanboys on both sides salivating though for different reasons: I think the avatar items look better in the pics that I presume are from Sony's Home.

Definately. In-game content that matters always wins over new costumes in-game that do nothing or even more pointless; avatar costumes.

It definetly looks like it and yeah it looks frikkin' awesome, but to be honest if I were to pre-order (let alone buy) the game, I'd probably much rather go for the comic book.

I think the comic book would get my vote; though if it wasnt on offer I suppose I'd go for the in-game goods over anything else. I agree though, the trend of different stores carrying different bonuses is irritating. I can understand why publishers include preorder bonuses- its a nice attempt at encouraging brand loyalty and combating piracy- but I don't agree with different stores getting different goods. It means that, if you're a real fan of the game / series, you're going to miss out.
