Xbox 360 Twitter, Facebook and Last.FM for under 18s

Microsoft releases dashboard update
Children around the world can relax knowing that they can use their xbox to make those pointless updates everybody loves reading on Facebook and Twitter.

"A few moments ago we've released an update to the Twitter, Facebook and Last.FM applications on Xbox Live for all Xbox Live countries except for the US," explained Major Nelson.

"With this update, as promised, if you have a child account and you get parental approval, you'll be able to have access to these applications. At this point, all Non-US Accounts should have access to them at this time. If you have a child account in the U.S., you will receive this update on December 15th, when these applications will appear in your Xbox 360 dashboard.

"Be sure to set Automatically log in or Remember me when setting up the application for the first time, otherwise you will be prompted for parental permission every time you launch the application."

Sorted.

Ha. Looks like they've realised where the market lies for a pointless social networking app.

It really is pretty stupid that to use Twitter you need to sit in a Twitter app and never leave, when the main point to that is just having it on in the background and checking out anything interesting that gets sent...

Also the lack of a web browser makes a lot of tweets and URL links posted to FB redundant.

iPlayer would have been about a million times more useful. Am I to understand that given MS' reasons for not getting iPlayer, that FB and Twitter actually paid MS a sum of money to get their apps on there sans advertising? Crazy.
