Remedy has released a 'new' Alan Wake screenshot on its Twitter. We quote 'new' because we're convinced it's actually an old screenshot with a different camera angle. How many times have we seen Alan in the woods with a torch now?!
The 360-exclusive is said to be due out in May, 2010, though the PC version sadly looks to have been left in the sidelines.
Spring 2010! The Game is looking utterly brilliant although I persoanlly prefer this screenshot that Remedy released http://forum.alanwake.com/showthread.php?t=2710 .

The day Stonecold doesn't appear in a Alan Wake thread, I'll send out a search & rescue party.

I'm excited about this game too, even though we know practically sod all about it. We know the rough storyline but we've never really been introduced to the setting or any of the characters.
For something coming out in just a couple of months, there's practically nothing around about it. I can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing
I really like this game as the concept is great however I fear when Remedy show no screenshots of different locations, that this game may fail. On the up side it may because they want to save the surprises for later, hopefully this game will have a few in store. I guess we will have to wait and see

It's a good thing in my book. I know Mass Effect 2 is a sequel, but I wish Bioware wouldn't reveal so much about the characters/enemies and potential endings. I will take some of the blame though, as I really should know not to click on ME2 stories!

Remedy have been pretty intense on their secrecy surrounding the Game, they really dont want us knowing too much about the storyline, they have even said that they may send out review copies without the ending just so it cant get leaked what happens .
This is Remedy, the guys that brought us Max Payne and they've been working on this Alan Wake for almost 5 years. This Game is going to be great .

I eagerly await this game's release to what will hopefully be justified positive reviews. It looks good from the limited pics and videos I've seen. The hinted at plot intrigues me which is often a strong drawing point for me, yet we'll see if I go for this upon release or not. Probably not if the PC version is not resuscitated. In that case I'll probably wait until I can pick it up second-hand. That's how it works: if they spite me then I'm quite happy to spite them right back. Fair is fair after all.
Remedy are on of the smaller development houses out there, they only have 50 full time employees, Alan Wake is by far their biggest and most ambitious Game yet and as a business they had to decide what would give them the greatest ROI.
They are focussing on the 360 version because MS are funding the development and MS want this Game on 360, like now.
By all means dont buy the Game when it comes out, but to say f*ck em, ill buy it second hand, seems petty to me. We want to support this industry, not Game, Gamestation or another like that.
I do appreciate where your point of view comes from, Stone however since Remedy - small or otherwise - have chosen to throw their lot in with MS, they are thus also bound to, and will be associated with, MS decisions. It was bad enough that MS initially insisted that "AW" only be available on Vista systems due to the lame duck excuse that is used DX10 blah-de-blah. Nevermind the fact that the Xbox 360 doesn't support DX10 yet apparently became the main focus for "AW". Neither MS nor Remedy can have it both ways.
I stand by my decision to only buy a second hand version of the console version of this game if a PC version isn't revived. Alternatively I'm willing to buy a brand new copy if the price is at basement bargain level - I suspect neither you nor I expect that to happen anytime soon for this console game.
As a consumer I don't owe any of the developers nor publishers a thing. Their distribution and financial problems are just that: theirs. True, those problems can end up affecting me in terms of the decisions that are made to counter those problems, but it is not my personal problem. They want my money and I get to choose whether I wish to spend a finite resource on their products or not depending on how I perceive them, their actions and their products all the while comparing them to other competitors.
I remember listening to a podcast on 1up where they were talking about NPD's and how they were down on last year but Gamestop had profits up 15% on the previous year!
The only way they could achieve those figures is through used Games sales which in my opinion hurts the Devs more than piracy does.
Oh, and you wont find Alan Wake in any bargain bins for a long long time yet .

Yep. I never trade in games anymore as the price they offer you is always an insult. They then sell it on for maybe 5 times more than what they gave you.
It's no wonder they are doing so much whinging about the psp go games being download only, it could potentially cost them a fortunate. They'll get no sympathy from me however.
Download only bites the end customer just as much in the ass as the second-hand sales games stores. The only true beneficiaries of such a distribution system are the publishers. I see no reason why I shouldn't look out for my own best interests when it is clear that they could care less about them. Thus I will never support a digital-only distribution system.
Remedy, I've stopped caring! I've been waiting so long for this 'epic' that I'm starting to fear the worst...just give me a new Max Payne please! I understand game development can take a long time, but every year, it seems that the release date is pushed further back! Now I don't want to sound like a party pooper by any means, but I have the feeling that a next gen Max Payne would have benefited Remedy much more than this newcomer. Don't get me wrong, I really do hope Alan Wake is the epic that Remedy portrays it to be, but releasing Max 3 would have been the better 'business' option, then re-investing back into this title is how I would have played it... "You're fired!"

Rockstar are making Max Payne 3. Remedy have nothing to do with that title, but maybe they'll handle future titles.

Not too sure on that one Mantis, im pretty sure that Remedy no longer own the rights to Max Payne, that sits with Take 2.

Alan's there new baby .
Yes, but that won't stop Take 2 from contracting them to do the work if they want to. Remedy are independent devs for hire after all is said and done.
They'll probably look at the balance sheets first then give you PC fellas a version...seems to be the case a lot these days. But I do remember my hero Max was born on the PC before any console laid hands on him. I remember clearly, after playing it on a friends top spec machine, being amazed, then utterly dejected after playing it on PS2...Sigh! Jerko-vision strikes again!
I love the PC. I like my console too, yet for me FPS games are best played on the PC for control reasons. That one report shows the PC games market down by 38% compared to this time last year is not likely to encourage various developers and publishers. Granted, the console games market was stated to be down 18% compared to this time last year in the same report. There is money to be made in the PC segment, it may not however, be quite ambitious enough for some and there is the ease of programming for a homogeneous system (although the PS3 is apparently a pig to program on compared to the Xbox 360).
On a positive note, there have never been so many PC users and their numbers are expected to increase in the tens of millions, if not by over a hundred million, in the coming decade or two. Furthermore, if the big boys and girls focus more on the console market it may open up opportunities for smaller games companies in the PC market which could provide a breath of fresh air in some instances. Either way, the PC market is not dead and the console markets are big markets with tech that will not push any new boundaries, with the possible exception of motion tech.
