The Last Day of Jim Moret's Life

Paige Albiniak
Posted by Paige Albiniak on January 4, 2010

As we bid good riddance to 2009, Inside Edition Chief Correspondent Jim Moret has written a book that is at once his memoir and his heartfelt confession: The Last Day of My Life. Like so many Americans, Moret found himself mired in the problems brought on by the real estate and banking crash of the past year and a half. On the brink of losing everything, Moret – who had spent most of his li ...... Read More

Fates & Fortunes Round-Up: Dec. 29, 2009

In numerology, dates are added together to come up with one significant number. Mostly this is done with birth dates or by applying numerological values to letters and adding up the letters in a name. I don’t put much stake in numerology, but it recently struck me that 2010’s number is three (2 + 0 + 1 + 0 = 3). Three is a number with a lot of spiritual resonance – it represen ...... Read More

F&F would like to make special note of B&C& ...... Read More

It took about one minute after ABC announced that George Stephanopoulos would take over as GMA co-anchor for people to start speculating about who should host ABC’s This Week, the network’s Sunday morning news and politics show. With Stephanopoulos at the wheel, the show has gotten better and better. He asks smart, tough, articulate questions and his top-notch guests respond in kind. ...... Read More

The morning show shake-up we’ve all been hearing about for weeks finally became official last week, with George Stephanopoulos taking over Diane Sawyer’s spot on Good Morning America. Sawyer and Charlie Gibson before her each have gone on to anchor ABC’s World News Tonight – I’m sure George would be happy to follow in their august footsteps. ABC eventually will ...... Read More

Does Zaslav know about the downturn?

Paige Albiniak
Posted by Paige Albiniak on December 7, 2009

Should someone tell Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav that the country is in a recession? In one of the roughest years in media history, Discovery just keeps pushing its boundaries. This morning, Discovery announced that Peter Liguori, former president of Fox and FX, will be the company’s new COO, taking over the job that Mark Hollinger departed to head Discovery Networks Internation ...... It’s ad chief musical chairs! B&C’s Claire Atkinson reported on the eve of the Comcast-NBCU deal that Comcast Ad Sales President Dave Cassaro would oversee ad sales for the entire venture once the deal closes in a year or so (assuming regulatory approval). That will likely put NBCU ad chief Mike Pilot out of a job, although with some $9 billion in ad sales at play, it seems like ...... Read More

Who are the media's most fascinating people of 2009?

Paige Albiniak
Posted by Paige Albiniak on December 3, 2009

On this day – to be forever known as the day they finally freakin’ announced the Comcast NBCU merger after what seems like several years of speculation – I was going to write yet another blog about Jeff Zucker. Why? Because I’ve written two others and I figured I should follow up since what’s been speculated for months is now official. Yet, like you, I find I am ...... Read More

Welcome back from a long weekend that went surprisingly quick. The news stayed mercifully low-key, other than this somewhat crazy news about Tiger Woods’ strange slow-mo accident (Breaking news: Tiger won’t appear at his scheduled press conference and he won’t appear at his own tournament — not his finest moment, in my opinion. Now the frenzy will only heighten, keeping ...... Read More

Paige Albiniak
Posted by Paige Albiniak on November 23, 2009

November has been full of news that will see media changed as we know it. Three big retirements were announced: Oprah Winfrey will end her syndicated show on Sept. 9, 2011; PBS’ Bill Moyers will end Bill Moyers Journal on April 30, 2010; and CNN’s Lou Dobbs abruptly quit on Wednesday, Nov. 11. Obviously, the end of Oprah is the most major of those announcements: the show’s dep ...... Read More
