Bands as the World Cup 2010 draw – Friday Fun

Timewasting fun on NME.COM

It's Friday once more and, in honour of the World Cup 2010 draw that's taking place tonight (December 5), we're thinking up alternate bandnames in relation to the tournament.

Anything vaguely related to the World Cup, South Africa, the teams, the draw, or even Charlize Theron (who's hosting it) goes.

Here are a few we've come up with so far:

The Beautiful South Africa
Get Cape Town. Wear Cape Town. Fly (to Cape Town)
Johannesburg Lean And The Jing Jang Jong
Charlize Theronettes
The Open Ceremony
Paul Seppworth Blatter
Durban Durban

Led Zep last played in the UK with a Bonham on the drums at Knebworth in 1979. That's almost thirty years ago and a hell of a lot has changed since then. In 1979, for example, Argentina were World Cup holders for the first time, having won the trophy a year earlier in their own country. The current holders are Italy, who beat France on penalties in the 2006 final in Berlin.
