DICE has released the recommended system specs for Battlefield: Bad Company on PC and - because people are moaning on the forums - its clarified the requirements for download game, Battlefield 1943 as well.
The developer recently revealed that the multiplayer beta - which is going on right now on PlayStation 3 - has been delayed for PC until early next year in order to "drastically increase" capacity.

I do find the recommended specs quite high. Although they're not outright obscene they will likely be borderline for a good many PC gamers. My system should be fine although it is no longer cutting edge. The gal still has some years in her yet! Throw in a new GPU at some point down the line and it should prove an amiable gaming companion for quite some time.
Agreed. Like you, I find the recommended CPU higher than expected. I suppose it's a sign of things to come and truth be told this was to be expected - it's a tale as old as time (new replaces old until what was new becomes the old, etc., etc.). PC gaming is where everything is developed both hardware and software wise. Consoles can be good and I can certainly appreciate the ease of use and relative simplicity it offers your "average user" but the prices between a brand new gaming PC, peripherals and games purchased over five years should be quite close to money spent on a console, peripherals (don't forget that HD tv!) and presuming you purchase a similar amount of console games (which are a lot more expensive). The upside being you can do a lot more on a PC than on a console and I just love the potential for individual freedom and expression on an open PC system which the consoles know nothing of at present time. If they did they could turn companies' heads with their sheer numbers.
