Ubi boss: Assassin's 2 sales "validate" strategy

Sequel "well positioned" to outstrip targets says Guillemot
Even though Ubisoft just announced a €78 million operating loss, the firm has a lot of faith in the recently released Assassin's Creed 2.

Speaking about the firm's most recent financials CEO Yves Guillemot said, "First week sales of Assassin's Creed II, up 32 percent, with positive initial indications for the second week, combined with an overwhelmingly warm reception from gamers, validates our strategy of developing bigger franchises.

"Based on this initial data, Assassin's Creed 2 looks well positioned to outstrip targets while our Wii games have got off to a more contrasted start in a less predictable market," Guillemot continued. "Finally, sales of James Cameron's Avatar: The Game should benefit from the launch of the movie which is expected to be the biggest blockbuster of this holiday season."

Feckin' faceless suit. Does he not realise that most people couldn't give a damn about 'the franchise' largely in part to the irritating sci-fi.

The game does well because it's not a total bag of s**t like almost every other game and the dev team listened to very valid criticism of the first.
