Activision's shooter continues to hold off Assassin's Creed II and New Super Mario Bros. Wii in latest UK sales chart.
In a week with no new entries in the top twenty, the top selling three games are identical to the previous chart, despite Modern Warfare 2's sales dropping 32 per cent on last week's figures. FIFA 10, now in fourth, swops places with Wii Sports Resort, now in sixth. The only entry which wasn't on last week's chart is Codemasters' F1 2010 for Wii and PSP, up one place to tenth.
The majority of sales of Modern Warfare 2, which has held the top slot since the week of its release, are on 360, at 54 per cent, with PS3 claiming 39 per cent and PC just five per cent. It's a similar story for Assassin's Creed II, which 360 copies comprising 57 per cent of sales and PS3 43 per cent.

So no RE: The Darkside Chronicles? Again, if you don't promote a game, its not going to sell because people won't know its there. Especially if the only ads are on Eurogamer. I've not seen them anywhere else
you should all buy AC2, such a wonderful game with so much to see and do its awesome!the game even helped me polish up my italian which i got rusty with lol! it gets a 10/10 it really is that good and is on the same level with Uncharted 2! their both the best games of 2009 were as modern warfare 2 is the biggest disapointment of 2009! I completed the story in 3 hours and the multiplayer got soo much wrong with it i duno where to begin, no wonder a public beta wasn't released, or a demo! fu*kers, MW2 got activisions sleezy fingerprints all over it! such a shame really!
Because of the massive marketing campaigne? Or the positive reviews? What did your gut feeling tell you about the game before you bought it?
My biggest game-bying failure was when I bought the latest POP game. Boy what big sissy of a game. Beautifull but sooo easy and dull and stupid.
I bought it because of the art style, and me thinking that the art style would justify a mediocre gameplay experience. Was I ever wrong about that.
My point here is: A game should be bought for the right reason, that is GAMEPLAY. Not graphics not hype not good reviews.
And I totally agree with you on the quality of AC2!
what you said about MW2 makes no sense because how would I know if a game is s**t without playing it, or relying on reviews???
I couldn't rent it because my local blockbusters is crap, so i went out on a whim and baught it because the adverts looked great but once said game was played, i realised what they showed in the adverts was pretty much the best bits of the game! i still play the game now and again with friends but it doesn't draw me in like cod4 did and i didn't state graphics were a problem with MW2!
Basically your speculating on my post simply because you love MW2 and don't like my criticism. Either that or you're just tryna sound intelligent
MW2 is a fantastic game, and I prefer the multiplayer over COD4's any day. The single player may be a little on the short side, but if you completed it in three hours then that was almost certainly on Easy difficulty - and where's the challenge in that?
Assassin's Creed is GOTY for me. It's beautiful, the story is engrossing and just a whole lot of fun. I'm about 2/3 through, and am finding it to be one of those games that I really don't want to end.
I didn't buy COD:MW2 (I borrowed off a mate) because I have never been a big fan of COD4 or WaW's online multiplayer. They are ok, but not exactly a balanced affair. Here have the exact setup you want. The campaign was ok, but it felt like an expansion and the graphics at times looked great and then others looked terrible.
For me Assassin's Creed 2 has really surprised me. I had no intention of buying it, I enjoyed the first game, but I just didn't hold up much hope for the sequel. I am glad it is not the case, I can't quite place why I like it so much but it is superior to COD:MW2's campaign in every way.
COD feels like more of the same, where Assassin's Creed 2 feels new and innovative.
I wonder how well MW2 has done in Japan? I know they aren't to keen on fps games but I'd still like to know...apparently, this type of game makes them feel dizzy(!).Huh! Admittedly, I'm not that keen on fps games, but I can certainly appreciate ANY good game when I see one, and why fans are lapping it up. My nephews sit there like zombies wearing headsets and I do find it amusing...I think I'm getting to old for games... I'll have to try AC2, even though the first one had some fundamental flaws (I got bored very quickly after the initial 'WOW' factor had worn off), but the reviews and customer feedback has been positive for the sequel. And I do wonder where Kojima Productions go after MGS4?? MW2 has certainly been a massiver hit and it will be interesting to see what Konami are going to do with their magnum opus...after all, they are two of the biggest 'war' games on this planet!
