Dead Space 2 will be officially revealed on December 22, another magazine has confirmed.
Yesterday Official PlayStation Magazine made a subtle tease that we'll be seeing the EA horror sequel in its next issue, but now Xbox World 360 has practically let the hounds off the leash.
The Next Month page in its latest issue features a not-so-subtle 'teaser' featuring a big picture of Dead Space protagonist Isaac and a dirty great '2' in the series font.
"One of 2010's biggest sequels. Next issue," the accompanying text reads
Of course this isn't the first we've heard about the not-so-secret sequel: a few weeks ago an EA job ad revealed that the 360 and PS3 follow-up is currently in pre-production with the "core" original team and is said to feature online multiplayer.
A fantastic eerie fun game the world needed....Resident Evil was a formula dat ran its course(4 is the Exception)...Dead Space gave the horror genre a kick in the backside it needed....i luck forward to this as much as i do GOW3 which is immense in its own right.
The first game was one of the best horror games I've played in recent years, and it's probably my game of this current generation so far - 9/10 from me. Looking forward to the sequel definitely.
Dead Space multiplayer doesn't sound good, the first game didn't need it, although having a load of Issac's running around going HURGHHHH everytime they melee would be hilarious.
I think by multilayer they mean online co-op. There wont be death match modes in this game, fair enough resident evil 4 did something towards that in the extras but the core online features for resi 4 was co-op and i think it will be the same for dead space.
The only other thing i could think of is if every player was separated across the ship and they all must find there way to each other before they get killed off? ohh please add a feature like this
Dead Space was my GOTY in 2008. I was blown away by the atmosphere and visual style of the game, it had a real 'lived in' feel, like ALIEN did in 1979, you actually cared about the characters it was believable, i felt the same here. The graphics and sound all wrapped up a great survival horror that kicked the crap out of resi 5!!!! It is in my humble opinion a truely fantastic game with a great story arc, one which i am very interested to see how they expand the story given the twist in the end of the first one. I really hope they don't drop the ball with the sequel as i am sssooooo looking forward to it. Keep the artistic style, keep the scares, give us more monster variety and bosses and a strong story and i will be happy!!!!!!!
I really liked Dead space, loads of atmosphere but yeah - it was kind of repetitive towards the end and some of the weapons weren't quite balanced (and some rubbish alternative modes).
But it was a new IP - could have disappeared a la Dark Sector stylee, I think a sequel is good news.
I suspect you wouldn't know a good game if one slapped you round the face and screamed 'I'm a good game you feckless motherf**ker!!!'
Loved Dead Space, it's the game Resi 5 should have been.
Your opinion isn't fact, just remember that.
I agree with you Benjy, it's your opinion and I totally respect that. I actually liked it to start with but I got used to the constant stream of things jumping out from the shadows and I ended up not feeling on edge anymore. It got to the point where I'd think "Yeah something's going to jump out around this corner" *monster jumps out* "Wow this is getting predictable". I genuinely tried to enjoy the game and I think I would have done more if they didn't have so many 'attempt to make you jump' moments. A good horror doesn't need it.
oh plz dear lord satan let this come out next year. I very highly doubt it as I've heard its just in pre-production atm but adding this to next years relentless bombardment would be sik.
Just finished the original a couple of days ago. Loved it and also enjoying the replay factor trying to get all the weapons maxed out and what not. Looking back now, everyone was saying it was just a good imitation, but I think it's THE survival horror game now that Resi has decided to go the action route. The control scheme also puts Resi 5's to shame. My only niggle was the level design felt very repetitive and the boss battles weren't arenything you'd remember. Hopefully they can improve upon this with the sequel.
Excellent. Good. Great- really enjoyed the 1st game. It was solid, atmospheric and had an interesting story but I found it kind of got a bit bland/predictable toward the end (I still don't like the way these games are divided into chapters these days).
But it wasn't scary- just a bit jumpy in places. Why be scared when you're armed to the teeth with gear capable of cutting people into pieces?
I'd have given in an or 8/10 myself. Hope the sequel is more a survival horror that a survival blammo fest though!

I agree, though maybe they'll be clever and do something a little different to yet another lame deathmatch bolt-on. Here's hoping.
I'm quite worried with the story too. Is it just me that thinks that Isaacs part of the story is done?
Yeah, it would probably be best if they had you fill someone elses shoes for the second one. It's not a big issue with me really, I mean Isaac never spoke in the first one, hell we didn't even see his face until the ending sequence. Kendra and Hammond were far more memorable and 'human' than him and they were only secondary characters. I t wouldn't be a big deal if they replaced him imo.

I reckon a Splinter Cell style multiplayer would be cool: Survivor's vs. Necromorphs. Survivor's could have some kind of objective like get from one end of the map to the other while the Necromorphs could be trying to stop them by crawling through vents and whatnot. Could become a game of tactics vs. shooting skills

I sort of agree too, though I'd like to know what happened to Isaac even if just through a cut-scene or video log of some sort. Unless of course he somehow manages to 'survive' the last rape attack
it'll be interesting to see where the story goes. I hope that it binds together dead space and extraction. Been wondering what happens to the scottish girl that isn't effected by the marker.Maybe she'll be the new protagonist. If not she seems pretty crutial to the story anyhow.
On that note if you haven't played it, Extraction is well worth the time and effort, helps add a lot more depth to the plot and opens up a lot possibilities for the sequel.
Although i would finish the original first, it contain pretty big spoilers!
