Shockwaves NME Awards 2010

Shockwaves NME Awards ceremony ticket registration opens

Fans can register for the chance to be at the main event

Registration for tickets for the Shockwaves NME Awards 2010 ceremony, set to take place at the O2 Academy Brixton on February 24, opens tomorrow (December 2) at 9am (GMT).

The event will see rock's great and good receiving awards, as voted for by the readers of NME and users of NME.COM. There will be live performances, including a set by the recipient of next year's Godlike Genius award, which is yet to be announced.

Tickets cost £15 each and are limited to two per person. Due to demand, fans will need to register to buy in advance from at NME.COM/awardstickets. Those who are successful in registering will be notified on January 24.

Last year the Godlike Genius award went to The Cure, who closed the event by playing a half-hour set. Friendly Fires, Elbow and White Lies all played live at the show, as did a series of other acts playing one-off collaborations.

NME editor Krissi Murison said: "This year's event was a seriously hot ticket with Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon reunited on stage for the first time; Florence Welch performing with Glasvegas and La Roux's duet with Franz Ferdinand.

"It will be great to be back at Brixton for the 2010 awards, the line-up will be just as spectacular and we look forward to sharing that with real music fans."

See NME.COM/awardstickets for more information and to register for tickets.
