Dreamhack Groups Concluded

dreamhack winter, groups

After a hard day of gaming, the groups from the Counter-Strike tournament have determined the final 16 teams.

Over the past day, Thirty-Two teams of different nationalities have travelled to Sweden to play in one of the biggest eSport events. All the teams are at a good standard, most having to battle through a qualifier and others receiving direct invite due to their status in the gaming scene. Finally, the finally sixteen teams have been determined and will face each other tomorrow in a single elimination style play-off featuring best of three matches.

Final Sixteen Teams

Groups A and B Finalists:

American team USA Evil Geniuses have dominated their group, winning all their games. After only dropping eleven rounds, they have certainly set the standard for the tournament despite one of their key players retiring earlier this month. The Americans are set to face Poland TitaNs who have narrowly got through on round difference.

The French team France Millenium have managed to win all their games and are set to face the runners up of group A, New Zealand wooSai. The Finnish team had to play the American team USA Evil Geniuses first, where they lost but managed to win the next two games and build up some confidence.

Groups C and D Finalists

Like USA Evil Geniuses, Swedish team Denmark SK Gaming won all their games and only dropped thirteen rounds. They are looking for a Dreamhack title after a disappointing loss in the final at Dreamhack Summer '09 to Denmark H2K-Gaming. They're set to face Danish powerhouse Sweden mTw who lost their first group game again Georgia Coldfrag. The Danes are currently using a replacement due to world famed AWPer Sweden Christoffer 'Sunde' Sunde is taking a two month brake from the game.
