We know that Modern Warfare 2 is selling like the proverbial hotcakes, so it's perhaps not too surprising to learn that the PC version has bettered the first week sales for predecessor Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
According to developer Infinity Ward's website, "the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 has actually outsold the PC version of Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in its first week, making it the most successful version."
Well we're not entirely sure it can be deemed 'the most successful version' just yet, after all, it's eventual sales may yet not be bigger than the earlier game. Someone's obviously after an easy headline.
And we must admit, the wording of that quote did have us initially thinking that the game's first week sales had already surpassed Call of Duty 4's in its entire lifetime, which in hindsight, would be bonkers. Wouldn't it...?

Yes, the dedicated servers, among other things would have helped people buy the game. I am a PC gamer, i was really looking forward to this game until they released that statement about all of the changes. I didn't buy it just because of that.

@ Paradaz - UK i played loads of online games on psn and i never experienced lag, and i pretty sure u can choose what map u wanna play on. and you can def play with your friends on psn and xbl

How full of sh*t are you? So you think by and large console gamers are casual and PC gamers hardcore? And you think console gamers don't care about the quality of their connection? I used to game on a computer and I'm still as hardcore now as I ever was. Every time a game lags a most of the players in the server start complaining and leaving. So you think PC gamers on the whole aren't interested in playing casually, with whoever's on? I don't know what type of gamer you are, but you don't sound like you have much experience at all. Although you guessed right about console gamers not caring to play games where c*nts have altered the game with cheats and glitches in a desperate attempt to make up for their lack of skills.
I will always prefer the mouse and keyboard to a controller, but the pathetic whiney attitude of most PC gamers (in forums at least) will forever stop me from rejoining the Pirate Crew. Oh and while we're making assumptions... don't forget to check on that hacked game you're downloading! I guess it saves you money for the new graphics card you'll need in six months.
At the end of the day I, like many others want to play games with the best graphics, the best audio, the best multiplayer support, the ability to download additional 3rd party content to increase longevity and keep things fresh, the system with most flexibility and support for controllers and peripherals etc etc.
The platform that provides that is PC. It doesn't come down to brand names or loyalty and you'll find that most PC gamers own consoles anyway in order to play the exclusive games that they couldn't otherwise play. With regards to cheating and glitches etc, the PC again is the only system whereby a dedicated server gives the admin the power to instantly kick and ban people who do this.
You only need to look at the original CoD MW, within 5 seconds of starting the game, I can be looking in a list of servers, deciding which mode and which map I wanted to play on, whether I wanted specific filters like modded servers or hardcore modes, deciding whether to play against UK or US gamers and whether I wanted a 5 minute or a 20 minute game. The consoles just don't giver you that choice and force you down a crappy peer to peer automatic route.
I don't think there are many console gamers who would refuse a free top-end gaming PC, I do think however, that a lot of PC Gamers wouldn't want to play FPS games specifically on a free console - it's a backward step.

I love these arguments, there always about absolutly nothing!! Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, i.e who cares if the 360 or PS3 version is more simple, it still provides alot of fun, why must you always argue, it doesn't matter what so ever, the only reason you argue/post is to stop yourself feeling so lonely, so just stop wasting time posting when you could be on MW2 or whatever (i know im posting, but that is pritty much just to stop all of you getting at one another for the most pointless of things)!

Do you people believe that because some people don't have enough money to upgrade their motherboard every few seconds you are somehow better than them? Maybe the PC does dominate gaming, well, I've already seen proven facts, but does that mean consoles should be smited with scorn? PC games require higher and higher specs to run, and yes, that does mean if you have the rig the game in question will dazzle you with it's graphics and frame rates. But I stick by my 360 because I can put any current game in it, and with the exception of the horrendous sounds the disc drive makes, it will run. As far as I know graphics haven't even topped out yet on the 360 or PS3 so have all this to think on. Apologies for the snobbery.

I enjoy playing on my Xbox 360 but certainly not for online multiplayer FPS games. How anyone, even the most delirious console fanboys, can actually think that reverting to 10 year old practices using inferior technology that provides the players with less choice and worse speeds is a good thing is puzzling...Unless of course they simply can't admit to the facts at hand. shame its not actually better than cod4, but meh i picked it up for 20 beans, could sell it on for more, if im honest this game gets 7/10, so many of the problems from cod4 are back and even worse, owell im picking up AC2 tonight, fingers crossed eh?!

If you don't see yourself holding on to "MW2" then you might as well sell it now while it's still in high demand and at a premium price. CVG's posted a glowing review of "AC2" so you may not need to cross your fingers.
