Tekken 6 online patch dated

Namco Bandai details and dates upcoming PS3/360 online update
Namco Bandai will release an update patch for the PS3 and 360 versions of Tekken 6 on November 26, it has just confirmed.

The patch focuses on improvements and tweaks in the game's online gameplay, following widespread user feedback (in other words, you guys shouted pretty loudly). Here's what it'll do:

  • Improved input response: improvement of the game's responsiveness to button / command inputs;
  • Selectable search priorities for ranked matches: players will be able to set search priorities for opponents in ranked matches based on comparable rank or connection quality as well as location;
  • Optimized data transmission between fighters and spectators: fight data will be optimized in order to reduce the bandwidth load on the host's console;
  • Signal strength bars: the signal strength bar will reflect connection quality more accurately;
  • Chance to cancel match: players will be able to cancel the match before it begins once the opponent's signal strength has been displayed on ranked matches.

NB specifies that this update is "separate from the online co-op Scenario Campaign mode download which is scheduled for release separately this winter."

finally !!
The online is horrendous and for a fast paced fighter its very noticable, lets hope the patch irons these issues out.

Yep, the online is terrible. I only have a 1mb connection, so that has a lot to do with it but this is far worse than any other fightet I've tried online. I've had about 15 fights online and it's been in slow motion and then loses the connection and quits out of the fight halfway through it EVERY time.

Very poor show.

I've never played a fighting game that worked online, its fine if you're just hopelessly bashing buttons but no good for pro matches.

When will the patch that fixes the terrible load times arrive?
ChrisCandVG on 24 Nov '09
I've been staying away from the online part of this game until someone patches it since hearing horror stories that matched the ones i'd experienced playing Tekken 5 online on the PS3. Lets just hope it comes close to matching SF4's online play which, for the most part, has been smooth nearly every time i play.

Terrible, TERRIBLE online experience! Come on Namco, there is no point in releasing it as online if the lag is so bad. Yu Suzuki (the pioneer of 3D fighters)
always maintained that if a game is running at 60fps, then the online element MUST be flawless, otherwise the illusion is shattered. Wise man...

As a one on one fighter, Tekken still reigns supreme worldwide (and yes, I also love SF4, VF5, SC4 DOA4 etc) but overall, Tekken has the largest fanbase. I have known many ppl who have never played games, gagging for a Tekken fix after a Friday night...

So come on Namco Bandai, sort it out and if you ever release a Tekken 7(!) Get rid of that silly 'other' mode you have shoehorned in!!

I totally agree,

If a game is fast paced, requiring fast input times, the online code must be flawless.

So far, when I've played online it has been good, then at times I cannot connect at all. Very inconsistent.

Lets hope this patch improves online play

Thx Shiki. You know exactly where I'm coming from...
Jon Ahmad on 24 Nov '09
Thank god for that.

Whilst the games i've played have never been unplayable there's still a slight delay on input times. This is extremely significant when you lining up a juggle or timing a combo. Very frustrating Evil or Very Mad

Tekken 6, as it stands, is a poor online experience imo. Hopefully this patch will go some way to correcting this.
