A supposed ex-employee of Pandemic Studios has vented his anger on the internet, blaming studio management for its impending closure and claiming that its final game, The Saboteur is being 'sent to die' by EA.
Posting on the NeoGAF forums, the anonymous tipster said it was a "bittersweet" moment having just finished open-world WWII game, The Saboteur and then getting made redundant.
"The reason why the studio closed down has everything to do with the existing Pandemic management," the post reads. "From what we were told, Pandemic management was given free reign to do as they please.
"Time and time again, they dropped the ball with bad decisions (promoting/keeping people based on loyalty, no production accountability, misallocation of resources, poor milestone objectives, no mentoring, etc.). It's a true shame, as there was a lot of talent and passion at the studio."
The poster says he wouldn't necessarily hate on the EA executives, as "they probably made the right decision" closing the studio. "Pandemic cost a lot to upkeep and, quite frankly, the last few products weren't up to snuff," the post continues.
"One more thing I will say: EA is totally sending Saboteur out to die. And it's a f***ing shame," the post continues. "It's easily Pandemic's best game yet. Of course, I am a bit biased having worked on the game for so long. If you were disappointed with Mercs2 and LOTR (who wasn't) and enjoyed previous Pandemic games, give Saboteur a shot."
"From the mouths of babes" comes to mind. Seems a shame and yet if the blog statements ring true then it's an entirely justifiable decision, IMO. I do hope to see/hear more of "The Saboteur".
