Modern Warfare 2 NOT recalled in Russia

Yesterday, the entire internet was laid siege to stories and rumours reporting that PC Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 had been pulled from Russian shop shelves (reported on CVG here) due to the infamous 'airport' mission.

However, Activision has since claimed that it itself decided to censor the aforementioned level after seeking the "advice of a counsel", and the game was neither banned or recalled from shops.

Speaking to Edge Online, a spokesperson for Activision revealed: "Reports that Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been banned in Russia are erroneous. Activision only released a PC version of the game in Russia which went on sale on Tuesday, Nov. 10."

They continued: "Other countries have formal ratings boards that we regularly work with. However, Russia does not have a formal ratings entity. As a result, we chose to block the scene after seeking the advice of local counsel."

As Edge went onto say, it is believed a patch of the released PC version restricted access to the airport level.

Activision has yet to divulge when the console versions of the war shooter will release in Russia, but expect details soon.

If it's only patch then surely the code for that part is still in the game, and it probably won't take long for someone in Russia to crack it and then for parents and the government to still moan Rolling Eyes
