Go Deep
It's much easier for me to stay busy, keep things on the surface, and pretend to live my life with a real sense of depth, than it is for me to actually go deep myself.

Mike Dooley is a 21st century metaphysician. He's puzzled out his own answers to the great questions of human life. Who am I? Why am I here? Did I really choose this?
Mom became like the sweetness of the chocolates she would eat. The dementia her sculptor, releasing the angel within, chiseling away memories, opinions, and beliefs until only her gentle presence remained.
Anyone who tells you that vomiting is "good for you, that you are purging what your body doesn't want, what it doesn't need," is a sadist. Anyone who ever refers to you as a "spiritual warrior" is a crook.
At the deepest, most fundamental level, the true reality of our existence is One, Ein Sof, infinite, and thus the sense of separate self that we all have is not ultimately true.
My sister, like many of us who either hate our jobs or are just ready for something new, was afraid to muster up the courage to say, bon voyage, farewell, see ya later (gulp) job.
Stretching for miles along the base of the hillsides just beyond the city of Cairo is a group of ancient cemeteries that occupies approximately 15,000 acres. About 500,000 people call these cemetaries home.
Are our morals dictated to us by a supreme entity, or do discoveries made by science and reason make Atheism a natural conclusion? You decide.
I have a proposition; let's all consider ourselves eligible for the Nobel Peace Prize, and focus internally on bringing peace to our surroundings.
A well run lodge and lodge leader follow strict, well understood conditions, practices and patterns of behavior. When tradition is followed there is nothing dangerous about a Sweat Lodge.
Despite all the fame, or maybe because of it, it's often quite hard to get a clear answer to what Kabbalah actually is. It seems to depend on who you ask.
It may be true that President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for promise rather than achievement, but let us not forget that there is at least one point on which he has already proven himself -- civility.
While I have nothing against cool clothes, exercise, and health drinks, let's get one thing straight: perfection is something that exists inside us, never from the outside.
1) Listen to Yesudas's beautiful rendition of the song "Ahimsa." 2) Visit (online at least) the Gandhi gallery of the Sacred World Foundation. 3) Wa...
As I watched this masterpiece by Ken Burns on PBS my heart was touched at a deep level. As John Muir was quoted, "Without wilderness we risk losing our souls."
Resentment builds up when we are not real with the people in our lives. It is that which is left unsaid that causes resentment -- little things that pile on top of each other.
All too often, however, spirituality reinforces rather than transcends conventional limits, boundaries, and notions of the ego. Sandwiched in between manicures and lunch dates, the quickie yoga class becomes just another way to augment and reinforce the self.
In order to be successful business leaders, we need to be able to see present reality with a minimum of filtering from the thoughts and images filling our minds.
Speaking your truth is an essential aspect of living a life of passion, fulfillment, and authenticity. However, for many of us, myself included, it is much easier to talk about speaking our truth than it is to actually do it.
On Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, Jews around the world repent for the past year's sins, wiping the slate clean for another year. But you don't have to be Jewish to ask for forgiveness.
Leaders, Kings and Emperors have had wise mystics whispering the hidden truths of the Universe into their ears for Millenniums. Where are the Mystics now? How do we bring them back?

Love this article!!!
Right on Sadie!!! You speak such elemental truths. We need to learn to incorporate the light, the dark and all the juiciness in between to truly know our own power. This is life, start getting up front and personal with it because what you deny will keep coming back to challenge you. Much LOVE.
Thank You Sadie,
I was a bit surprised this needed to be said, but should not be. In a society operating on fraud and corruption from its money, media, corporations and government, we need to remind ourselves how much more valued appearance is than substance and make an effort not to fall into that trap. That it should also affect the spiritual practice should not surprise me or anyone else.
Blessings X 10,

Well I enjoyed the read but thought we were talking about religion instead of yoga.
I particularly liked, ".........stop talking only in pleasant "yoga voice" tones, get back to some straight talk, start dealing with our own bullshit--and turn it into fertilizer for our spiritual gardens.........."
I dont do yoga but I probably should. But at 50 I'm all about the no bullshit part of life. My spiritual beliefs aren't just beliefs from a way to live good but what I think the Lord intended. I don't think he intended alot of the crap thats written. I believe we're all about 2 steps from the jungle still. And the further we get from it the worse off we are. We evolved into who we are now but that doesnt mean we're not animals.
I much prefer my inner austrolepithicus over corporate man. What a strange mix. Makes me laugh.
