Innskráning í Uglu:

The Institute of Earth Sciences was established July 1st, 2004 when the Nordic Volcanological Institute and geology and geophysics sections of the Science Institute, University of Iceland merged. The Institute of Earth Sciences and the Institute of Basic Sciences, together form the Science Institute, University of Iceland.  The institute is dedicated to academic research and graduate studies within the Earth sciences with a main focus on the unique geological features of the Iceland region.



Crown Prince Frederik visits Askja (09.05.2008)

Danish Crown Prince Frederik and Princess Mary arrived in Iceland on May 5, 2008 for an official visit.

On their first day, Prince Frederik, along with the president of Iceland, Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, visited Icelandic University, and attended a mini-conference on volcanoes and glaciers, in Askja, Natural Science buildig.
