The Republican party is going to split into two parties. One will be the party of Powell/Bush Sr/Huckabee conservative but rational and respectful the other will be Beck/Limbaugh/Palin/Cheney/Bithers/Tea Partiers red meat throwing not reality or solution based with negative over the top rhetoric. The adults of the party didn't stand up in time now you have Lindsey Graham, Frist, Bob Dole and the others trying to reign in the loonies but I think it is too little too late.

Let the teabaggers and republicans fight amongst one another. They apparently didn't make the impact they were hoping for against president Obama and now they are turning on one another. Karma.

I think the tea party will split over support for Ron Paul

The GOP is reaping what they have sown. I read the report prepared by James Carville's group on the far right and what amazes me is how befuddled these people are. For eight years, Reagan played them for suckers and they revere him as the epitome of the true conservative. Goldwater was a real conservative. Reagan was conservative but he was far more pragmatic then the far right is willing to acknowledge and he didn't shrink government but expanded it. If I have my statistics correct, Clinton did more to reduce the size of government than Reagan yet Clinton is the bad guy. I think this points to just how myopic the view of far right is and how prone they are to believe what they are told to believe. The GOP loved it when these wackos lined up behind the party but even ignorant people eventually come to understand they have been played and the response has been to blame the party for the failure of the conservative platform rather than realize that it was a statement of principles that ultimately did not conform to what most Americans wish from their government.
