I understand where the reviewer is coming from. The film is not without faults but the action does speak for itself. It is what it is. The numbers the film has made (currently $700) speaks volumes for a steadfast appreciation of a franchise and also people just generally enjoying a good summer romp. There were things it could have done without but I honestly think the good outweights the bad. I also disagree with complaints of it being too long. One can never have enough Robot action!

It was like Transformers porn - all the Transformers of, well, Transformers and all the gratuity down to Optimus Prime's sad little face and the repetitive jiggling of Megan Fox's jugs to make it a nasty soft-porn movie. It had the plot, depth and intelligence of Baywatch (not to mention the repetitive running, oh they were running). Blew chunks. Suffered a similar fate as Bay's other franchise, Bad Boys. First - good, sequel - awful.

Are u freaking kidding me? what the hell is up with 2 stars? and what is that nonsense rant about a storyline? did you wanted to watch "My sister's keeper" and u got your tickets mixed up? WTF! this was the best action movie i have seen this summer so far, i laughed my head off in some parts and it was all i was expecting. Thus, I had a frickin' awesome time and it didn't let me down at all. I think it's pretty obvious you don't like action movies or explosions (which by the way, hellooo! action movies don't need to be also a teary drama...) and you went to the movie closed-minded and already bitching about it. So get a grip, and don't you dare insult Michael Bay, he so rockz! and did a great job. In fact, i suggest you people watch it in IMAX it sooo rulz :)

Uggh! There goes 2.5 hrs of my life! Should have been AT LEAST 40 mins shorter! Shows you just how deceptive a trailer can be...

In my opinion it is unequivocally the worst motion picture ever made; it was akin to a screen showing 2+2 = 5 for two and a half hours with people hitting you on the head repeatedly with kitchen equipment

You're all douches for saying 2 stars is ridiculous when you're handing out perfect scores! It was choppy, chaotic, and at times, nauseating. It was 'too much' in every way but story development. Did I learn anything new about Sam Witwicky? And Megan Fox is still hot, right? NOTHING CHANGED APART FROM THE CHARRED LANDSCAPE!!! (AND EVEN THAT WAS HARD TO DIFFERENTIATE). No. 2 stars is worthy for this one. 3 for the 1st one (and #1 is one of my favourite flicks by the way).

too long.... boring/dull..... similar to first film.... wait for dvd.....

At 22, I’m in the key demo for this film. After reading all the comment, the same argument people are using is that the film is full of action! A film can have all the action it wants, but unless it has a decent plot to spanning the length of its running time, which this doesn’t (you'd be lucky to find more than an actual hour of plot), it just mindless. A film is a story not just huge action sequences and explosions. Continuous action like that's present here, just gets dull and repetitive.

I found this movie dull, boring and daft plus its far too sugary also it seemed far far too long like 40 minutes too long. I only pray they dont make a third.
Lazlo, London on June 22nd, 2009
This is a movie for 12-15 year old boys. As a 25 year old man, I felt embarrassed sitting in the cinema. It's completely impotent in every way, it was an hour too long, mind numbingly boring, even the action sequences were terrible. 1 star would be generous for a movie this bad.
Maria, Leeds on June 21st, 2009
Personally i thought the movie was amazing! I have read several reviews and all the critics seem to rate the movie poorly and i cant seem to think of a reason why other than you must really really hate the transformers!! And anyway its an action movie the storyline does not need to be great!
Ben Kuwas, Houghton on June 21st, 2009
It was ok but really failed to impress! it wasn't an enjoytable, simple anf exciting action film. it was just an action film with no purpose! the idea was good but the filmmakers didn't do a good job putting it on the big screen! the first one was much better!!!!!!!!!!
Graeme, Sunderland on June 20th, 2009
2 Stars? Really bad review, sorry, i understand people are entitled to their opinions but maybe you should stick to writing reviews of films or infact watch films that you will enjoy. I truly feel that you went into watching this film close minded and you probably hated the first one, this is coming from a person who loved the first one and really enjoyed the 2nd one because you have to take a movie like transformers for what it is and thats a balls-out action movie which delivers on these expectations. It wont win oscars for best screen-play but that isnt what i want to see from a Transformers film. Please stick to films that you will enjoy i.e. sideways and frost/nixon and leave the reviews of films like these to colleagues who can appreciate them for what they are and give a non-biased reviews.

How can you give this 2 out of 5 - this was way better than the first Transformers, and I LOVED that. The action in Transformers 2 was mind blowing! Granted the storyline aint great - but it never will be with this sort of film. Michael Bay - YOU ARE THE MAN!
Stacey, Birmingham on June 20th, 2009
Can't wait to see this cool movie!

Was that guy watching the same film??!! IT WAS BRILLIANT! WHAT A TWIT! AWESOME film!

Review is mainly spot on for me. Loved the first film (4.5/5 for me) but this one is too long and stupid. The story lacks ambition and a lot of the new transformers get hardly any screen time. They die and you don't even get to learn their names. There isn't a lot of character development to speak of but the set pieces are excellent. If they cut 40 mins from this movie it would be much better and more focused. Transformers 1 was genuinely funny but the humour this time round is too juvenile. Finally and unforgivably, they ruined the voice of my favorite transformer and he had very little screen time to boot. A waste frankly seeing as IMO he's the Boba Fett of this series.

Wow this review is so off the mark it's unreal - this film was great fun and I actually preferred it to the first film. The film delivers exactly what you expect and more some - rip roaring action, fun, and some real laugh out loud moments. The slapstick twins were pitched just about right - fun but not too irratating, but the old transformer (won't say any more about him in case it spoils it) truly stole every scene he was in - him reminiscing about his grandfather being a wheel is probably my favourite line in the film.

I watched the first showing on the first day it came out 19th june. This film has more action than terminator and star trek comined Times 5. Michael Bay is the greatest action director of all time. A must watch for any person of any age.
Stevee, MK on June 20th, 2009
I saw this movie last night and it was absolutly great!! one of the best movie i have ever seen! Packed full of action from start to finish!
electricsheep, Glasgow on June 20th, 2009
the argument could be - 'put ur brain in neutral' - but theres no point - worst film i've seen in months - going on a diet of independant films with no CGI for the forseeable future
Dan on June 19th, 2009
Oh dear, there are clearly some real kids on here. Do you think box office performance has anything to do with quality? Transformers 2 will make a tonne of money, because of people who clearly value CGI and action over story and character. If you want a good popcorn movie, go watch Star Trek. I have no problem with summer blockbusters, but before too long we'll be watching 3-hour CGI showreels in June and will have forgotten how great summer escapism was before the likes of Michael Bay started leering at Megan Fox and letting ILM overindulge him.
Daniel, Colchester on June 19th, 2009
I can't beleive how close minded this reviewer and how out of touch. I have been a fan for years since i was a child and was dreading the transformers movie, expecting it to be awful and was pleasently surprised by the first offering. This movie is even better, charachter devlopment, action, Half-decent story arc, superb set-pieces, and the age old battle between good and evil. Shakespear it will never be, but two stars, please get a grip!
Daz, Northants on June 18th, 2009
Digital Spy gave the first Transformers film 2/5, despite it being the 3rd highest-grossing movie of 2007. They seem out of touch with popular culture.

enough with these stupid movies, they really do suck big time
Tyrel, London on June 18th, 2009
From reading that "review" and reading the 8 comments here. Im gonna go with the people's opinions above me. Here's what im going to do. Im going to watch the movie for the escapsim, fun and enjoyment. I can do that right? Just watch a summer blockbuster action movie, and just watch it for the basic reasons mentioned above? My local cinema is showing it at 10am. I just need to get it out there
Jay, Dublin on June 17th, 2009
this guys is an $&@ the movie was great and better than the first one, kind of, but it was still great with effects
Claire, Aylesbury on June 17th, 2009
This review is ridiculous, I'm sorry but if you went to see this film with an expectation for anything more than all out action (I'm pretty sure that most people who go and see this arn't looking for 'gritty realism') then of course you're going to be dissapointed. I loved the first film and I'm pretty sure I'm going to love this one, it looks great fun and a brilliant piece of escapism. Maybe next time the person they choose to review the film should be a little more open minded
Aidan, Dublin on June 17th, 2009
I want to disagree with this rating, the film is full of rip roaring action, the way transformers is meant to be!! It came from a toy franchise, it doesn't involve much thinking, its a leave your brain at the door fun film. The special FX are amazing, especially the sinking of the battle ship and around the pyrimads... BRILLIANT!!
Robert, Essex on June 17th, 2009
You will find most of the film critics and reviewers are over 50 and and do not understand what sci fi is..not every one is looking for a broke back mountain film. most people these days are wanting these kind of films... Transformers Rock
Jay, Leeds on June 17th, 2009
