Piers: 'Dannii interview was life-changing'

Piers Morgan has claimed that his recent TV interview with Dannii Minogue could be "life-changing" for the Australian star.

The former tabloid editor questioned Minogue for his ITV1 Life Stories chatshow last month.

Minogue's episode, which aired on Saturday night, saw the singer reflecting on her early life in the spotlight, relationship with sister Kylie and struggle to find acceptance as an X Factor judge.

Morgan told The Mail On Sunday: "The interview with Dannii was one of the most emotional I've ever done. I defy anyone watching her cry over her failed marriage and sister Kylie's cancer not to feel huge empathy with this supposedly ice-cold X Factor judge.

"We hugged afterwards in her dressing room and drank some champagne, and she was still a little tearful."

Revealing what happened days later, he continued: "Dannii texted me: 'Thank you for the opportunity you gave me to be me. I will never forget that you're one of the few people to ever give me that chance. I'm sure that this interview will actually be life-changing for me'. I think it will, too."

This week's episode will see Morgan chatting to comedian Ronnie Corbett.
