It's been near-impossible to avoid the Black Eyed Peas this year. In the States, 'Boom Boom Pow' and 'I Gotta Feeling' together trashed chart records after spending more than six months at No.1, while over here they haven't left the top ten since March. Along the way, they've popped up on David Guetta's One Love album and will.i.am has somehow found time to produce for Cheryl Cole.

Fortunately, they aren't scuttling back to LA with their royalty cheques just yet. 'Meet Me Halfway' finds the group sticking with the electro-hop beats that dominate The E.N.D while adding in some vintage '80s pop stylings for good measure. Fergie even channels Madonna on the chorus, coming off sexy/vulnerable as she yearns for a romantic reconcialition. This sounds retro and futuristic at the same time, and it's emotionally resonant too, making it a hat-trick of world-class singles for the Peas.
