SAMSUNG new EPG date? (Merged)

Sorry if this has already been posted but does anyone know when the Samsung HD receivers will receive the new EPG?

from memory, I think the current guesstimate in the huge EPG thread is around 9th-11th May. I have a Samsung box too so I hope it's sooner than that, but it sounds realistic to me. There's still plenty of Thomson boxes to be updated.

At the moment they only seem to be upgrading one type of box every 3 weeks. The only ones so far are Thompsons 300E and 3004.

They have also stated that the Thompsons will be upgraded first. So if Sky carry on with this scheme I wouldn't expect the Samsungs until July / August.

Sky put in this months sky mag that ALL hd customers would have it by the end of spring. That would make it end of June but I reckon May would be a good guess for Samsung

Probably do Amstrads the end of May beginning of June. Not sure on that though, could be done same week as Sammys just wait till you get pack then you know when it due. Can rest assured it is not long to wait. I'm still waiting for my Sammy to upgrade hopefully next week

How did you manage that? I'll probably just get fobbed off with another Thomson reject, err sorry refurb.

Just luck of the draw I think, spoke to a decent lad on the phone, told him 3 boxes had failed since September and last 2 Thomson's failed within 2 months, said he would put a comment on my account, which I take it was to give me a new box.

A flimsy guide , people who are expecting a

"large informative pack" banging through the letter box

should think again

look at www.sky.com/hdguide for info

And yet they have told me that they cannot guarantee a box of a certain make as it depends on what is in the installer's van. They're telling porkies that, methinks.

I'm a Samsung owner and I've noticed that my box doesn't go into standby overnight like my old replaced Pace box used to? Wil this mean that the New EPG update (whenever it happens) won't come through automatically?

Not necessarily. But you can increase the odds of you getting the update by always making sure that it is in standby when not in use.
