Several years ago (and I don't know if this is the case anymore) tanning salons were a favourite among, erm..., 'dodgy'-types as a good front for money-laundering.

Thats something I've always been led to beleive too.

A lot of the 'cash in hand' type tradesmen seem to buy the wife a tanning salon for some reason. Surely not to keep the taxman at bay?

No I don't think so, it doesn't work like that - every debt accumulated prior to the day she was declared bankrupt would be covered, so anything before roughly summer 08 - I don't know the exact dates. The only tax debt she could have run up would be April 09 onwards.

I have never had a tax debt so can't swear 100% to that though!
