Epic 45 days offline tournament announced *

beijing, dota, gtv

China's eSports growth in the last two years has been amazing, perhaps growing faster than any other country. China is now set to host a unique tournament the likes of which have never been seen before - eight teams and one game in a 45 day DotA marathon.

The event, which doesn't have an official title yet, will be held from December 1 until the end of the year or even until the middle of January in Beijing, China as myMYM.com was exclusively told. Teams which place in the top three will share the total prize money of 100 000 RMB which is almost 10 000 Euro. The full game cycle will take about 30 to 45 days, during which all eight teams need to stay in Beijing.

Top class teams from all over the world will be invited, while MYM have already recieved their invitation from replays.net Editor in Chief and head admin China WuFan.

The sponsor, which is signed though not announced yet, will provide accommodation as well as computers for practice purpose. All of the games will be broadcast live both on TV and on the internet, with GarenaTV being the broadcaster.

It is uncertain how the tournament will run, as it is difficult for Europeans to attain visas for such a long time, as well as having the tournament run right through Christmas.

If it does take place, it may be remembered as the most epic tournament in eSports history, as there was never an event before which was hold over such a long period of time with international teams offline.

Stay tuned for more updates regarding this huge topic on myMYM.com.

UPDATE:

The event will be similar to Korean StarCraft proleague tournaments, where every team plays one or two games in a week and all of the games will be held offline and played in a hall with fans and be broadcasted.

I suppose this will mean a lot of changes in the European teams getting invited. Surely most of the top teams has a lot of players who are eager to go, but also players that aren't able to.

Yeah just have sponsors pay for most popular players. Would be nice to see them raging in a variety of European languages.

equinox you wouldn't want to go on a relatively cheap vacation in a foreign land for 30-45 days with a bunch of people from totally different nations that have similar interests as you? >_> I don't see how anyone who COULD go wouldn't.
