X Factor hits high note with 12.1m on ITV1

The X Factor continued to dominate Saturday night for ITV1 with a peak audience of 12.1m (54.9%) watching Saturday’s audition show.

Between 7pm and 8.15pm, the talent contest was watched by an average of 10.3m (51.7%). It peaked with 12.1m at 8.05pm, when Essex singer Olly Murs performed Stevie Wonder’s Superstition.

It was followed by gameshow The Cube, which averaged 4.8m (22.9%) for the 60-minutes to 9.15pm.   

Nothing else really got a look in while the X Factor was on, but BBC1 won the later night slots with Casualty drawing 5.1m (24.2%) to the first part of a two-part thriller between 8.15pm and 9.05pm. It was followed by Last Night of the Proms, which drove 4.4m (22.9%) to the channel up to 10.40pm.

On BBC2, 1.6m (7.5%) tuned into the first part of the famous concert from 7.30pm until the switch over at 9pm, before documentary The Last Nazis was watched by 1.4m (7.2%) over the following hour.

C4’s repeat of the final episode of ER was watched by 500,000 (2.3%) between 7.25pm and 9.05pm, with a further 64,000 (0.3%) watching on C4+1, while Five’s hour-long episode of NCIS at 8pm drew 1m (4.8%) to the slot.
