Australia's long term ecological research forest sites

Australia's Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) Forest Sites web page is Australia’s contribution to the International Long Term Ecological Research (ILTER) network.

The ILTER network was formed in 1993 to develop a worldwide program and the infrastructure necessary to support communication and distributed database management. LTER programs have been developed in recognition of the importance of assessing and resolving complex environmental issues of interest to the global scientific community.17 countries have established formal national LTER programs and joined the ILTER network, with a number of others actively pursuing the establishment of national networks.
