National Plantation Inventory
The National Plantation Inventory has been reporting on Australia’s plantations and farm forests for over ten years. All data in the inventory is provided voluntarily by:
- plantation and farm forest owners and managers
- Private Forestry Development Committees
- Farm Forestry Networks and
- State and Territory agencies have a vital role in its collection.
Confidentiality arrangements ensure that details about individual estates cannot be identified.
Data collected is used to provide:
- An annual report to update basic resource data by State and Territory, public and private ownership and plantation type.
- A comprehensive spatial report, produced every five years, with data on the regional distribution of plantations.
- Forecast potential wood supply reports, produced with the comprehensive five year reports.
- Research and information to support plantation owners and the plantation industry.
