Technology team internship - NYC Office

HuffPostTech, the Huffington Post's new Technology section, has openings for unpaid fall internships for the fall. Primary responsibilities include:

- Entering, editing and evaluating blog submissions

- Suggesting stories for aggregation

- Correspondence and other communication, including editorial and technical problem-solving, with blog contributors

- Promoting HuffPostTech's content and blogs to other blogs and on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter

- Putting together slide-shows and other general research projects

The ideal candidate will be deeply interested in all aspects of technology coverage, in addition to being web savvy, detail-oriented, energetic, efficient, and be an avid consumer of online media. Experience with Photoshop, Movable Type or similar blogging platform, basic HTML preferred. Two days a week or more preferred, and the position is unpaid and/or for school credit. Reporting/Editorial Internship - Washington DC Office

The Huffington Post has an immediate opening for a reporting/editorial intern in Washington DC. Interns will be asked to do extensive researching, writing, editing, fact-checking, monitoring of news stories, and other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications: Strong writing/research skills and knowledge of current political events are required. Familiarity with online political sites (newspapers, blogs, social bookmarking sites, etc.) is highly recommended.

Overnight Associate News Editor
Reports to: Senior News Editor
Location: U.S. / UK / Australia

The Huffington Post has an opening for an overnight associate news editor. Important: hours of work will be roughly 10PM ET to 6AM ET.
Associate News Editor's job duties:
-Find, file, post stories and video, primarily to the front page of the Huffington Post.
-Meticulously follow breaking news.
-Create slideshows and other multimedia presentations.
-Work on long term projects.

The ideal candidate:
- has spent at least two years in a breaking news environment. Candidates with other politics/media backgrounds will also be considered.
- should be well versed in politics and business news. The candidate will be asked to work on numerous topics.
- should be very familiar with a broad range of internet news and media outlets.
- should be comfortable with a job that sometimes requires flexible hours, work on weekends, etc.
- Working knowledge of Photoshop a plus.

Lead Developer:

Responsible for the rapid application development in Perl/PHP and iPhone/Blackberry/ Android apps; establish and maintain professional communications with clients to meet their expectations. Must have experience with a top high traffic website and high traffic iPhone app. Produce web projects that increase traffic and keep the internal business units satisfied, on budget, and on time. Lead a production team and be responsible for coordinating the production process from strategy implementation through to technical delivery of our final product. Liaise with our creative team, work with our production team, and support our technical team. Uphold and improve our Quality Control system. Additionally, strategize and capture relevant information in production meeting for custom website development. Integrate and develop interface for registration and renewal with registrar to our website.

Requirements:

BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other Engineering field with 5 years experience in similar position. Must have experience with Rose, MYSQL, mod-perl, PHP, Apache, PostgreSQL, ActiveMQ, and stomp protocol in perl. Must have experience using ActiveMQ queries and topics to develop live feeds over http.
