::: kate on cults :::  Kate Trainer starts us off this week with a short primer on cults. She talked with local experts about the ideas of group-think, mass hysteria, sects, cults, religion and power.

::: skate or die :::  Up next, a look at the subculture part of our theme. You’ve probably seen groups of kids skateboarding before, launching themselves off steps or rails or just busting around an empty parking lot and wondered to yourself, what makes them want to do that? Well first time producer and fellow skater Aric Kuester has some special insight into that world.  We asked him to explore the local Traverse City skate scene and report on exactly what draws people to this marginal, and sometimes misunderstood sport.

::: brave new self :::  Subcultures are all around us, but sometimes, who ends up in which one surprises us. Lou Blouin had this experience when he first moved to Traverse City and bumped into his old college friend Adam. And it didn’t take long to realize something was drastically different.

::: ah, quel decolletage! :::  Finally today, a reminiscence on cults past. For almost two decades, one Radio Anyway producer wondered if he was a cult of one in his appreciation for a certain daytime television language program. But now, with the internet, nothing worthy of cult status can slip by unnoticed. Here’s Jim Turner.
