Gov. Paterson endorsed Bill Thompson in the race for Mayor today, though he declined to bash Bloomberg's policies. Paterson suggested his decision was based in part on the term limits extension, even though he once said he was "delighted" the Mayor would be seeking a third term.
Bloomberg, meanwhile, picked up support from Planned Parenthood and Rep. Nita Lowey, who praised his stance on women's issues and for being pro-choice. The Mayor also defended himself against accusations he favors the rich, saying, "I'm about pulling people together, not dividing them. ... I want to make sure that everybody pays their fair share and that everybody benefits to the extent we possibly can, equally. That's why New York is New York, because we don't have the class distinctions they do elsewhere."
From your perspective, does New York have class distinctions? Has Bloomberg been an advocate for women? Will Paterson's endorsement give Thompson's campaign a boost? What do you make the Governor's about-face on term limits?
E-mail your thoughts, along with your first name and neighborhood, to the address above.

Patterson is a Jerk! why would you want his endorsement maybe an excuse for your loss

Thompson can now proudly claim that the worst NYC mayor - Dinkins and the worst NY governor - Patterson have endorsed him. I hear that Ahmejenidad's endorsement is coming in next week, and the week after that Kim Jong-il's.
Every city has class distinctions, what's the big deal about it. I think Bloomberg meant that city services are not allocated by neighborhood wealth.
BTW on the day after the democratic primary I received a Bloomberg campaign mailer criticizing Thompson's failures at the old Board of Education. Bloomberg is going to hammer Thompson.

Point by point: Does Ny have class distinctions? Why is the middle class exiled to the boroughs? Why will this mayor reinstitute congestion pricing once hes fanagled a third term? The class warfare has been exacerbated by this nouveau-riche billionaire. His definition of everyone paying their fair share is burdening the middle class. Why didnt Bloomberg fight the transit fare increase? Why should Patterson (mediocre governor: Spitzer's rubber stamp) endorse a Republican when He's a Democrat? If the voters are paying attention an upset could be in the making with Billy Thompson who would make an excellent Mayor of all people and classes of 21st Century NYC.

As I watched Bloomberg I just think...what an ego this man has. Term limits yes--Bloomberg no!

Patteson's endorsement in theory is great for Thompson...but unfortunately since he is not our most popular Govenor to date...does not hold that much weight.
