Investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a fire that ripped through a home in Staten Island Sunday night.

The flames broke out around 10 p.m. at 32 Memo Street in Prince's Bay. Officials say the fire spread quickly through the house

Two adults and a child were able to escape safely, but firefighters rescued one man who was trapped on the second floor before the floor collapsed.

"They found the man on a second-floor window, disabled person around 50 year old male," explained FDNY Deputy Chief William Gillepsie. "And they were able to get him out the second floor just in time as the whole second floor burst into flames just as they got him on the ladder."

"Thank God we're all out," said a resident. "We got all the pets out, but all the things in the house, my medicine is in there, my glasses, my teeth, I lost everything."

The rescued man was taken to the hospital with leg injuries and smoke inhalation.

Seventeen firefighters were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
