Former Mets pitcher Jerry Koosman, who helped the team win its first-ever World Series, is headed to jail for tax evasion.
Prosecutors say Koosman did not pay federal income taxes for three years. A federal judge said he defrauded the government out of as much as $80,000.
Prosecutors say Koosman has filed returns for the missing years, but still owes close to $65,000.
Koosman pitched for the Mets from 1967 to 1978. He was inducted into the Mets Hall of Fame in 1989.
