Nigel Slater 17 June 2008
Nigel Slater and John Hurt
How food shapes our lives?

Nigel Slater is one of Britain’s most influential cooks. For his latest television series of A Taste of My Life he meets models, actors such as John Hurt, and fellow foodies to learn about the dishes that have shaped their lives. He joins Jenni to cook one of her favourite meals Corned Beef Hash. He'll be talking about food memories as well as the dishes that should be passed on to future generations.

‘A Taste of My Life’ is broadcast Mon to Fri BBC 2 at 6.30pm

Corned Beef Hash
Ingredients:

1 part corned beef
1 part mashed potato
An onion
Butter

Melt a knob of butter in a frying pan over a mid-high heat. Add a roughly chopped onion. Cook until golden then add the mashed potato. Mash the corned beef with a fork and mix into the mashed potato. Leave it to sizzle for ten minutes then turn it out onto a plate.
