A 14-year-old boy was shot and killed in Oakland, police said Saturday.

Ricardo Cortez Jr. was found suffering from gunshot wounds on the 1700 block of 47th Avenue about 8:40 p.m. Friday, said Officer Jeff Thomason, Oakland police spokesman.

The boy was taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland, where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made in the slaying, and a motive is under investigation.
